I spent 6 months bouncing between very good eye hospitals, but none of them were able to diagnose and prescribe for my case (ERM + double vision). But at Narayana Nethralaya, Dr. Abdul Rawoof and Dr. Sumitha Muthu handled my case as a close-knit team. They kept very careful reports in my case file.Dr. Abdul has very deep knowledge and experience of the eye’s muscles and nerves, and the diseases and disorders that can affect them. He very thoughtfully and carefully considered all aspects of my complicated case and my subtle vision problems. He actually spent probably 2 hours with me in total, going over about 60 reports from his hospital and 3 other eye hospitals, and asking me important questions! Never did he ever hurry through his analysis or our appointment or express even a hint of impatience. He’s a very kind, experienced doctor and a very careful diagnostician Dr. Muthu used the information from Dr. Rawoof, me, and her own comprehensive and extensive tests (which no other hospital had performed or was capable of performing) and her logic and experience to design prescriptions for distance-vision glasses and near-vision glasses. She spent a lot of time with me discussing my vision problems so she could understand completely. For my distance vision she tried a very slight correction using a prism, and for my near vision (reading) she tried a Bangerter filter, which really helps. About two years ago she brought Bangerter filters to the hospital, which are apparently a new innovation. Unfortunately, my double vision is quite variable, so I’ll have to come to the hospital again after two months to try the distance-vision prescription again.I am impressed that Dr. Rawoof and Dr. Muthu did not push the distance-vision glasses prescription on my prematurely. Dr. Muthu actually tried a trial prescription for them twice, two days apart, which showed that my double vision is not stable. Everything was explained to me patiently and in exquisite detail by the doctors at every stage.
All the hospital’s staff were kind and efficient. A special shout-out to Mrs. D’Souza, who called me whenever it was my turn to see Dr. Muthu, in the middle of my uploaded photo between my wife and me.
The hospital is clean and efficient, not super expensive, and very well organised and comfortable.
