Is Lasik A SAFE PROCEDURE

What is LASIK?

LASIK or “Laser in-situ keratomileusis”, is a refractive surgery that reshapes the cornea to treat refractive errors such as near sightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. In Lasik surgery, precise and controlled removal of corneal tissue by a special laser reshapes the cornea to change its focusing power.

Is LASIK a safe procedure?

LASIK uses advanced computer-driven laser technology to reshape the cornea with microscopic precision and accuracy. The technology has many safeguards in place to reduce the risk of error. This ensures patient safety and lowers complications, making LASIK a safe and successful vision correction procedure with a high patient satisfaction rate.

What are the types of LASIK?

Traditional Lasik – A microtome blade is used to create the corneal flap and an excimer laser is used to correct vision.

Femtosecond Lasik – This is a bladeless procedure where a high-precision femtosecond laser is used to create the corneal flap and an excimer laser is used to correct vision.

Wave-front-guided Lasik – This is Custom Lasik where advanced computer imaging techniques are used to create a detailed image of the cornea which allows for more precise correction of subtle optical errors.
