Dr. Shylaja S, completed her basic medical education (MBBS) from Bangalore Medical College (BMC)-Bangalore and Post graduation (MS) from Jagadguru Jaydeva Murugarajendra Medical College (JJMMC)-Davangere. She completed her RGUHS Fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases from Bangalore West Lions Super-Speciality Eye Hospital, Bangalore. Her areas of specialisation are in Corneal Transplantations including Anterior and Posterior Lamellar Surgeries, Ocular Surface Surgeries (Amniotic / Mucous Membrane Transplantations and Limbal Stem Cell Transplantation), Ocular Trauma Management, Corneal Tattooing, Corneal Collagen Cross Linking, OSSN management, Contact Lens Fitting, Eye Banking and Refractive Surgeries [ LASIK, PRK and Phakic IOLs -ICL/IPCL]
She is a lifetime member of All India Ophthalmic Society, Cornea Society of India, Karnataka Ophthalmic Society. She has presented Paper, Posters and Video in several State and National Conferences and has won the Best Poster award in KSOC 2013 and Second Prize in Poster presentation in OSKON, 2015. She had worked in Vasan Eye Care Hospital as Cornea Refractive Surgeon at Rajajinagar branch for 5 years. Presently she is working as Consultant in Cornea Refractive Department at Narayana Nethralaya -1, Rajajinagar.
