When to refer for CVI Assessment?
When your child does not look at you or make eye contact
When you find your child constantly staring at lights
When the child constantly looks down or in side gazes
When your child does not respond to people coming close but only to sound
When you find your child tripping over objects on the floor
When your does not pick up toys on the floor
When there is history of prolonged ICU admission/ hypoglycaemia / seizures soon after birth
When does my child require paediatric physiotherapy?
When there is no neck holding by 3-4 months
When there is no rolling over by 6-8 months
When there is no creep/crawling by 7-months
When the child does not stand with support by 12-14 months
If child sit in W-sitting
If child walks on his toe tips
If child has any tightness (indicating rigidity) of hand and legs
When does my child require speech therapy?
If you notice that your child has not attained his/ her milestones in speech development by the appropriate age and has following
difficulties as mentioned below:
4 months: inattentive to the speech of others
6-8 months: Lack of gestures
12 months: Difficulty understanding speech or following simple directions
16-18 months: No words, or a limited vocabulary
24-26 months: Lack of ability to combine words for short sentences
3 years: Echoes in words or phrases or many errors in sentences
3-4 years: Lack of ability to retell stories or talk about past events
6 years: Trouble with attention, memorization of facts, learning or reading
When does my child require special education?
Child has difficulty learning at school
Child does not cope with peers in his/ her class
Child has other associated conditions like autism or ADHD
Child has difficulty learning by conventional methods but learns exceptionally well otherwise
Is there anything I can do to help my child?
