Dr. K Bhujang Shetty
He is an alumnus of Bangalore medical college where he did his MBBS in 1978. He did his ophthalmology residency in Minto Ophthalmic Hospital, Bangalore medical college in 1982. He started his ophthalmology practice in a small clinic in the eighties. He had a great vision to grow, foresight to anticipate future needs and enthusiasm to develop. The hospital was shifted to the current building in October 1993. Once only an eye clinic became a multi specialty eye hospital and started growing year by year. To meet the growing demand for quality eye care, modern sophisticated equipments were acquired. He has actively encouraged devolopment of various subspecialities in Narayana Nethralaya and has been responsible for transformation of Narayana Nethralaya as the largest superspeciality eye hospital in Karnataka. He is an accomplished cataract and phacoemulsification surgeon. He is the Chairman of Narayana Nethralaya. |

Dr. Mathew Kurian
Dr. Mathew Kurian completed his basic medical education at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Ophthalmology Residency from St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore, the Diplomate of the National Board of Examinations and the Ratan Tata fellowship in phacoemulsification at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. He is a high volume Phaco-surgeon with special expertise in refractive lens surgeries including phakic, toric and multifocal implant surgeries.
He is a keen reasercher and has completed Basic and Advanced Epidemiology and Statistics training conducted by the WHO collaborating centre for Community Based Health Professions Education at CMC, Vellore.
He has completed an Execitive MBA (Advanced Management Program) from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM-B), Bangalore and courses on Health Economics from St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore to support his role in Health Care Management as the Medical Superintendent of the institution.
He is currently at the Department of Cataract and Refractive Lens Surgery, Nararyana Nethralaya, Bangalore, where he heads the Alcon Nararyana Nethralaya phaco fellowship. He is a member of the All India Ophthalmologic Society and the Indian Advisory Council on Curriculum for Emerging Phacoemulsification Training. He wants to combine his interest in Evidence Based Medicine with Scientific Management principles to have data driven decision making in Healthcare.

Dr. Sudeep Das
He completed his basic medical education from S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttack in 1987. He did his Diploma in Ophthalmology at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in 1992. This was followed by Diplomate of National Board of Examination in Ophthalmology from Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli in 1995. He also did his Fellowship at the same institution after which he continued to work as a consultant. He was incharge of the eye department of the Memorial hospital, Farrukhabad U.P. which was a CBM project. Then he was a Medical Director of Arogyavaram Eye Hospital in Srikakulam District, which is one of the biggest eye Hospitals in A.P. His main interests have been Cataract , Refractive Surgeries, Pediatric surgery and Ocular Trauma. He is a life member of All India Ophthalmic Society. He has been active in participating in national & international workshops & conferences. He has been the chief instructor in courses conducted in conferences in India, Europe & South-east Asia. He has been a very high volume surgeon for close to 20 years and is at present a senior consultant in the department of Cataract & Refractive Lens Surgery. He is also actively involved in the cataract surgical training program which has both domestic & international candidates. |

She completed her basic medical education from Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore and post graduation from Vijaynagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellary.She completed her Diplomate of National Board from Narayana Nethralaya in 2009 and continued to complete her RGUHS fellowship in Phaco and Refractive Surgery from the same institute in 2011.She has presented papers in several national conferences. She recently won the ARC best thesis paper award from AIOS (2011).Her areas of interest include imaging modalities in cataract and anterior segment with special emphasis on phakic IOLS and the role of UBM in ICL size determination. She is currently working as a consultant in the department of cataract and refractive surgery services at Narayana Nethralaya-1, Rajajinagar, Bangalore.

He completed his basic medical education from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore, & Postgraduation (DNB) from St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore. He subsequently did a neuro-ophthalmology Observership at UC Irvine (USA) and a Refractive surgery Observership at University of Mainz, Germany. He did his FRCS (Glasgow) in 2006. His areas of interest are Refractive surgery, Clinical Electrophysiology, Neuro-ophthalmology and Clinical research. He is a member of KOS, ASCRS, and International society of electrophysiology and vision. He has been an invited faculty at national and international meetings involving refractive surgery, neuro-ophthalmology and electrophysiology. He has various publications in national and international peer reviewed journals like JSCRS, AJO, and Ophthalmology. He is currently a senior consultant and Vice Chairman of Narayana Nethralaya. |

Her main areas of interest include Angle closure glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, ultrasound biomicroscopy and imaging in glaucoma. After graduating from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, I moved on to Mysore Medical College to complete my post graduation (MS) in Ophthalmology. Later on I joined a long-term fellowship in Glaucoma at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. I continued to work in the same institute for one more year after fellowship. Then I moved on to Lotus eye Care Hospital, Coimbatore and was a consultant for 3 years. I joined the Narayana Nethralaya family in April 2009.My area of interest in Glaucoma is imaging modalities with special emphasis on Angle closure and Pseudoexfoliation. Apart from the patient care I also indulge in Academic and research related activities in Glaucoma. I have presented various research papers in several National and International conferences. Dr. Rajesh S Kumar
He received his MBBS from JJM Medical College, Davangere and his post graduation from Institute of Ophthalmology, Joseph Eye Hospital, Trichy, following which he worked a senior registrar at Schell Eye Hospital, Christian Medical College, Vellore. He then worked as research adjunct in the glaucoma department at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad for 2 years. He completed a clinical fellowship in glaucoma from Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital in 2005, and then worked as a senior clinical research fellow for 4 years at Singapore Eye Research Institute and Singapore National Eye Center. Dr Kumar’s research interests include angle closure disease and imaging. He has been a co-investigator in many clinical trials on therapeutics, imaging, clinical course and surgical outcomes. He has presented his work in international conferences and has also been an invited speaker. He has published and is a reviewer in many peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Padmamalini M
She is the Head of the Department of Uveitis and Ocular Immunology at Narayana Nethralaya, Rajaji Nagar, Bangalore. She got her M.B.B.S degree from Stanley Medical College, Chennai, Postgraduate Diploma from Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and Government Ophthalmic Hospital, Chennai Medical College, Chennai (where she stood first in the Tamilnadu Dr. M. G. R. Medical University), and Diplomate of National Board from Prabha Eye Clinic and Research Centre, Bangalore. Her fields of specialization include uveitis, ocular immunology, ocular complications of HIV and imaging in uveitis. Her 2008 paper was the first to report on retinitis associated with chikungunya infection .This work won her the Dr. Narsing A Rao Best Paper award at USI annual conference in 2006. Other awards include Best Poster Presentation Award (4th National Update on HIV/ AIDS Management, Mysore, 2005), Best Paper Award (Inflammatory Diseases Section, 66th AIOS Meet, Bangalore, 2008), Dr. M.M.
