Dr. Colin A.S.Nazareth
He completed his MBBS in 1985 and postgraduation DOMS, MS (1987,1988) at the Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. Subsequent to 2 years training in general ophthalmology at the Christian Medical College, Vellore(1988-1990) he joined St. Johns Medical College, Bangalore (1990-2011)as a lecturer & Anterior Segment surgeon with special emphasis on cataract and glaucoma. He left St. Johns as Professor and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology in 2011. He is currently the Medical Director and Consultant in Cataract surgery services at Narayana Nethralaya-3, Ashok Nagar, Bangalore.

Dr. Ridhima Bhagali
She has completed her M. B. B. S. as a University ranker (M. U. H. S., Nashik) and subsequently, her M. S. Ophthalmology, both from B. J. Medical College, Pune. She later completed her R.G.U.H.S. Fellowship in Phacoemulsification and Refractive Surgery from Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore. She has presented papers and posters in many national conferences and has won the Best PG Paper at the Maharashtra Ophthalmological Society Annual Conference in 2008 and the Annual Research Society Conference, Pune in 2009. She has an international publication in a peer reviewed journal and is currently working as a Consultant in the Department of Cataract & Refractive Surgery Services at Narayana Nethralaya-3, Ashok Nagar, Bangalore.

She also completed an observership in Glaucoma under Dr. George Spaeth from the Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia. She has presented at state, national and international conferences. Her awards include Best PG paper (2006) and Best video (2010) at the Karnataka State Ophthalmic Conference and Best Overall Paper at the Glaucoma Society of India Conference in 2010. Dr. Rohit Shetty (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday - 6:00pm to 8:00pm)
He completed his basic medical education from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore, & Postgraduation (DNB) from St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore. He subsequently did a neuro-ophthalmology Observership at UC Irvine (USA) and a Refractive surgery Observership at University of Mainz, Germany. He did his FRCS (Glasgow) in 2006. His areas of interest are Refractive surgery, Clinical Electrophysiology, Neuro-ophthalmology and Clinical research. He is a member of KOS, ASCRS, and International society of electrophysiology and vision. He has been an invited faculty at national and international meetings involving refractive surgery, neuro-ophthalmology and electrophysiology. He has various publications in national and international peer reviewed journals like JSCRS, AJO, and Ophthalmology. He is currently a senior consultant and Vice Chairman of Narayana Nethralaya. |

He received his basic medical education & postgraduation from St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore. He is also a Diplomate of the National Board of Examinations. His expertise includes paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus with a keen interest in ocular genetics and retinoblastoma. He is also working in the fields of ocular trauma and community ophthalmology. He is now doing a clinical fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology at Hospital for Sick Children at Toronto under Dr. Alex Levin. He is a member of the International Society for Ocular Trauma and has presented his work on trauma in international conferences. He did his MBBS from Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Medical College, Bangalore in 1998 and then went on to do his MS in Ophthalmology at PGI, Chandigarh in 2002. He did a fellowship in Orbit, Oculoplasty & Oncology at the Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai.Subsequently he was the Medical consultant & Assistant professor in ophthalmology orbit - Oculoplasty department. Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. He has a special interest in ocular oncology and pathology and is a PhD scholar in Ophthalmology M.G.R University, Chennai. He is working on the in vitro chemo sensitivity of Retinoblastoma cells to oncotherapeutic agents. He is a highly skilled surgeon specializing in oculoplasty and orbital surgery. Dr. Padmamalini M
She is the Head of the Department of Uveitis and Ocular Immunology at Narayana Nethralaya, Rajaji Nagar, Bangalore. She got her M.B.B.S degree from Stanley Medical College, Chennai, Postgraduate Diploma from Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and Government Ophthalmic Hospital, Chennai Medical College, Chennai (where she stood first in the Tamilnadu Dr. M. G. R. Medical University), and Diplomate of National Board from Prabha Eye Clinic and Research Centre, Bangalore. Her fields of specialization include uveitis, ocular immunology, ocular complications of HIV and imaging in uveitis. Her 2008 paper was the first to report on retinitis associated with chikungunya infection .This work won her the Dr. Narsing A Rao Best Paper award at USI annual conference in 2006. Other awards include Best Poster Presentation Award (4th National Update on HIV/ AIDS Management, Mysore, 2005), Best Paper Award (Inflammatory Diseases Section, 66th AIOS Meet, Bangalore, 2008), Dr. M.M. Joshi Best Paper Award (Karnataka Ophthalmic Society Meet, Davengere, 2009) and AIOS Narsing A Rao Award (69th All India Ophthalmological Society Meet at Ahmedabad, 2011). She has fifteen indexed publications, 3 book chapters, 52 invited talks, 17 international, 46 national and 59 state level presentations.

She completed her basic medical education from MKCG Medical College and VSS Medical College Burla, Orissa. She completed her formal surgical training in SICS and Phacoemulsification from L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad where she continued to serve as Research Ophthalmologist in Uveitis and Anterior Segment for 2yrs. She also obtained a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Research and Clinical data Management. She has experience in conducting clinical trials as co-investigator and has participated in several clinical trials. She has also been involved in the training programs. Her research interests include Uveitis, Ocular Immunology and Clinical Research. Currently she is the consultant of Uveitis & Ocular Immunology Service at Narayana Nethralaya-2 and at Narayana Nethralaya-3.

He completed his basic medical education from SRTR Medical College, Ambejogai Maharashtra & post graduation from Government Medical College, Aurangabad in 1996, followed by a fellowship in Vitreoretina at Medical Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai in 1997-98. He did Observership in Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam, and University Hospital, Essen, Germany in 2003. He completed his fellowship examination of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (FRCS) Glasgow, UK. He has several national & international presentations to his credit. His interests include Diabetic retinopathy, vascular occlusions, choroidal neovascular membrane, and minimally invasive vitreous surgery (MIVS). Dr. Mathew Kurian completed his basic medical education at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Ophthalmology Residency from St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore, the Diplomate of the National Board of Examinations and the Ratan Tata fellowship in phacoemulsification at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. He is a high volume Phaco-surgeon with special expertise in refractive lens surgeries including phakic, toric and multifocal implant surgeries.
He is a keen reasercher and has completed Basic and Advanced Epidemiology and Statistics training conducted by the WHO collaborating centre for Community Based Health Professions Education at CMC, Vellore.
He has completed an Execitive MBA (Advanced Management Program) from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM-B), Bangalore and courses on Health Economics from St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore to support his role in Health Care Management as the Medical Superintendent of the institution.
He is currently at the Department of Cataract and Refractive Lens Surgery, Nararyana Nethralaya, Bangalore, where he heads the Alcon Nararyana Nethralaya phaco fellowship. He is a member of the All India Ophthalmologic Society and the Indian Advisory Council on Curriculum for Emerging Phacoemulsification Training. He wants to combine his interest in Evidence Based Medicine with Scientific Management principles to have data driven decision making in Healthcare.

Dr. Sudeep Das
He completed his basic medical education from S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttack in 1987. He did his Diploma in Ophthalmology at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in 1992. This was followed by Diplomate of National Board of Examination in Ophthalmology from Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli in 1995. He also did his Fellowship at the same institution after which he continued to work as a consultant. He was incharge of the eye department of the Memorial hospital, Farrukhabad U.P. which was a CBM project. Then he was a Medical Director of Arogyavaram Eye Hospital in Srikakulam District, which is one of the biggest eye Hospitals in A.P. His main interests have been Cataract , Refractive Surgeries, Pediatric surgery and Ocular Trauma. He is a life member of All India Ophthalmic Society. He has been active in participating in national & international workshops & conferences. He has been the chief instructor in courses conducted in conferences in India, Europe & South-east Asia. He has been a very high volume surgeon for close to 20 years and is at present a senior consultant in the department of Cataract & Refractive Lens Surgery. He is also actively involved in the cataract surgical training program which has both domestic & international candidates. |
